Recollections of lifetimes of war
Mingled and rose with smoke
Drifting mists of silence,
Of danger,
Of perilous power.
It is this that makes people afraid
He is made to fight alone
And they cringe, avoiding
The secrets
Of pain in his eyes.
See him fight! See the soldier emerge
From the Man, past emotion,
The sadness, collapsing,
Falls into
The triumph of strength.
Since the first time, he's known of the bond
Between fighters, his eyes lock
Into the eyes of the foe
They both know
Each must kill or die.
And the love is made stronger by grief
For the fallen, the turmoil
Of sadness and joy, shared
By an Elf
And a Man in love.
He is Aragorn, a warrior,
Dúnedain, and future King.
