there is no more morning
and slow dark water floods us

the bridges are washed away
we are too tired to swim
they said you came
to give us a bridge
to give us a light
you
are
a
light
a bridge
they all hold you up
and you take them
to where
the hope lives.
they feed from you
drink your hope
you speak in a foreign tongue
of pureness and nobility
and i hold your hand
so that i too
may be carried
to hope.
