-----
His heart so old and young
his journey scarcely begun
a kingdom he must claim
based on his ancient name
Trudging through the wilds
eager faces like a childs
hands clasp bags so heavy
and fight to keep legs steady
A quest of unknown destination
not really a good explanation
to follow a man so mysterious
a journey suddenly serious
Trudging across the plains
through marshes and rains
with sorrow growing stronger
as each day they walk longer
His back once so straight
is bent beneath the weight
of burdens they can't bear
they didn't come prepared
Upon Weathertop
he pauses to look and stop
and when the Nazgūl arrive
he fights for all to survive
With broken blade raised high
he sees the Nazgūl fly
but moments to late
as Frodo meets his fate
His heart becomes amiss
as nearer Imladris
towards his child hood abode
he heads with wounded load
With eyes wide with fear
and silent unshed tear
he sees the hobbits hearts
as they struggle in their parts
A warrior long ago decided
to protect what they delight in
to give them unknown protection
from the creeping dark infection
His vows he now holds dear
as darkness grows near
for one of the halfling breed
it is the hour of need
A warrior so ancient
with grace and refinement
greats the weary wanderers
and helps to ease their fears
A flight to ancient ford
fought with an ancient sword
keep the Nazgūl at bay
keep evil away
His heart in Elven Home
his soul lives there alone
a love so near it's prime
may some day reach its time
A quest barely begun
becomes another one
for greater good and fate
This journey you must take
Claim the seat of kings
destroy ancient rings
although he came late
a King of Fate
